Because of the ongoing concerns and the ever changing landscape of the COVID-19 virus, Highmark has made the difficult decision to modify this year’s 2020 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community that was slated to be held on May 16th to an online only fundraiser & virtual walk.
You can join the Howie’s House team for the virtual walk today!
The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community is an annual fundraiser that gives communities the chance to fundraise for organizations they care about!
Whether you’re a past guest, volunteer or someone personally touched by our mission, you can participate in this virtual walk to help support the Howie’s House.
Register as a virtual walker, set up a fundraising page and reach out to your family and friends for financial contributions.

| Jim and his wife Karen are long-time participants in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community and proud supporters of Gift of Life Howie’s House. This year, they decided to partner with the Howie’s House. |
Jim received a life-saving lung transplant in 2013. He and Karen traveled to Philadelphia from their home in Harrisburg for treatment and stayed at the Howie’s House.
“We walk because we’ve been there,” Jim and Karen say. “The Howie’s House was our place of refuge during the transplant process. It’s a place we hope most people won’t need, but it’s important for those that do to know it’s there for them. We walk so it can continue to support families like ours.”
