Clyde F. Barker Transplant House

For patients and families traveling to Philadelphia for transplant services. This is only available to Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania patients and families.

Host-homes or group facilities for a patient and his or her family traveling for medical services and in need of affordable lodging.

For patients and families traveling to Philadelphia for transplant services. This is only available to Einstein Medical Center patients and families.

Ask your transplant team or transplant center for more information about where to stay. Some centers may have a discounted rate at a local hotel.

Travel Support

Sometimes a patient’s insurance plan can help with transportation and/or lodging costs.

If you have Medicaid, benefits will vary from state to state. Some private insurance will be able to cover these costs. Call your health insurance provider for more information on benefits available to you.

If you need to fly to your transplant center, there are a few organizations that might be able to help. Please note that none of these services provide emergency flights. All flights must be coordinated ahead of time.

Patient Airlift Services (PALS)

This organization arranges volunteer medical flights and free air transportation for individuals throughout the greater Northeast region, from Virginia to Maine and Ohio to Massachusetts.

Air Care Alliance/Angel Flights

This organization helps connect patients with volunteer pilots able to fly them to areas providing the care they need.

Air Charity Network

Air Charity Network is a charitable organization that provides free air transportation to specified health care facilities.
