The Kidney Process – Nay Seif, MD (1 hour)
- Understand the clinical transplant evaluation process for ESRD patients
- Identify clinical needs and listing expectations for patients once listed
- Understand the medical benefits of a kidney transplant vs. long-term dialysis and why dialysis patients should aim to be listed and transplanted
Donation and Allocation – John Clark (1 hour)
- Describe an Organ Procurement Organization and their role in the donation and transplant process.
- Understand the US wait list system
- Review kidney allocation policies and communication with transplant centers pre-organ recovery to ensure optimal transplant outcomes.
